What is it?
ACLA SmartDocs is a service that adapts agreements to your specific circumstances based on the answers you provide in an online interview. You simply enter your agreement's details online and the system delivers a tailored document to you via email. The ACLA SmartDocs Confidentiality Agreements are the first such agreements we have produced.
How does it work?
The system guides you through a question-and-answer interview that gathers information about the parties, the purpose of the agreement, the information being protected, the term of the agreement, and other topics.
The agreement will be carefully constructed to suit many situations. Your answers can lead to other questions (for instance, if you specify that the agreement has a limited term, then the system asks you what that term should be).
When the system has enough information it generates the agreement and sends it to you. The agreement you receive is editable, so you are able to make changes if your situation demands it.

How much does it cost?
Full ACLA members can generate unlimited agreements for free.
Do I need special software?
There's no software to install or configure - all you need is a web browser and email.
How secure is it?
We've taken steps to make sure the system is secure and confidential. We know your information is sensitive, and we don't store it in the system at all. We also use internet-standard SSL to protect data in transit - the same security that online banking sites use.
What else?
The ACLA SmartDocs Confidentiality Agreements provide full members with model documents for use in the course of their day-to-day work. It is our hope that over time the ACLA SmartDocs Confidentiality Agreements will become established as de facto model agreements for corporate lawyers. In the future we hope to be able to offer full members an expanded library of such model documents.
