Membership Application Form

Once you have made up your mind it is easy to join.  We offer two options:

1.  You can apply and pay for membership right here on the site.  Just fill out the Membership Application Form below and hit the "register" button.  ACLA will email you an acknowledgment with payment options on it.  Note: before making an online payment please read our Electronic Payment Terms of Use.

2.  Alternatively, if you opt to make a written application, print out the Membership Application Form, fill in all your details, and send to the Application along with a cheque or your credit card details to for your membership fee to ACLA, postal details on the application. You can also, fax the application to ACLA (+61) 03 8616 0201 with your credit card details and we will send you confirmation of membership and your receipt.

Special Arrangements for Large In-house Legal Departments.

ACLA offers a special membership arrangement for large in-house legal depatments, which reduce their cost of joining up multiple members and simplifies membership administration.  If the total number of ACLA full members employed by your organisation is 10 or more, you may qualify for this arrangement.

The Membership fee is $190.00 (inc 10% GST) for a year from the date you join.

Types of Membership

1. To be eligible for full membership a person must hold qualifications which entitle that person to be admitted as a barrister or solicitor in any State or Territory of Australia and must be employed in any capacity by, or practice principally in relation to the affairs of a body corporate (other than an incorporated legal practice or a private company established principally for the purposes of providing administration or other services for a firm which provides professional services) or any statutory corporation or government or semi-government body.

2. Any other person may be admitted as an associate member of ACLA.  An associate member is not eligible for appointment to the Board or to stand for election to an Executive Committee and is not entitled to vote at any general meeting of ACLA, but in most other respects has the same rights, duties and obligations as a member.

3. To be eligible for student membership a person must be a full-time student and a valid student card must be presented with their application for membership.  A student member is not eligible for appointment to the Board or to stand for election to an Executive Committee and is not entitled to vote at any general meeting of ACLA, but in most other respects has the same rights, duties and obligations as a member.
