    FAQs for mentors

    So you are interested in becoming a mentor? We have outlined below some FAQs to help you to decide whether becoming a mentor is right for you.

    how will I be matched with a mentor?

    Mentors will be matched to mentees drawn from outside their own organisation and industry sector.

    what is the time commitment?

    Participation in the program involves a six month commitment (one hour per month) with mentoring pairs having the option to mutually agree to continue on completion of the formal program.

    what is discussed during a typical mentoring session?

    During monthly mentoring sessions with your mentee you will discuss topics of interest or concern to themyou. These may include:

    • Corporate issues and/or dynamics
    • Professional conduct
    • Client liaison
    • Leadership and career development
    • Managing workload
    • Influencing / networking skills
    • Legal expertise

    what characteristics should a mentor possess?

    To provide maximum benefit to mentees, mentors should have:

    • a record as an experienced and successful in-house legal counsel
    • valued and recognised leadership skills
    • no potential for financial benefit from the relationship
